Submission Guidelines & Exhibition Rules
Instant Photography & Alternative Process Exhibition
We invite artists and photographers to submit work for an exhibition celebrating instant photography, handmade processes, and alternative photo processing. This show is focused on works that embrace the tactile, direct, and material qualities of image-making, including instant film and light-based contact processes.
Eligible Work
Submissions may include original works made through the following processes:
- Polaroid
- Integral instant film
- Peel-apart instant film
- Instax
- Cyanotype
Other closely related handmade or direct photographic processes
(Digital reproductions of these processes may be considered)
Submission Requirements
Each artist may submit a limited number of works for review. Final accepted quantity will depend on available wall space and exhibition layout.
Size & Space Considerations
Wall space is limited, and accepted artists will be assigned placement based on exhibition layout, total number of participants, and the physical needs of each piece.
- Each submitter may be allocated a defined section of wall space
- Larger pieces or groupings may be adjusted based on available room
- The largest size accepted for enlargements is 11 × 17 inches
- Original one-to-one Polaroids must be presented in a protective frame, such as a 1:1 frame, 8 × 10 frame, or a similar presentation format that properly protects the work
- Other small instant photographs and delicate process-based works should also be mounted or framed in a way that protects the surface and structure of the piece
Final installation decisions remain at the discretion of the organizers to maintain the overall flow, balance, and safety of the exhibition
Selection & Participation Fee
Please note that submission to this exhibition does not guarantee acceptance. If selected for inclusion in the show, artists will be required to pay a $25 participation fee. A discounted participation fee of $15 is available for students.
If submission is paid and art is not accepted, your fee will be credited to you.
