"My paintings use a collaged cartoon style to commemorate both my pop cultural and psychological influences during milestones in my life." Thalo Halo
Biography
Thalo Halo, also known as Lou Gabriel, is a painter living in Geneva, Illinois - a suburb of Chicago. He received an Associate Degree in Art from the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale in 1986. After taking a twenty year break from painting, before he began making art again in 2016, He has shown at galleries such as Chicago Truborn, No Name, and Brassworks.
In this show... at the LMF Gallery + Darkroom, Thalo Halo brings his paintings for the first time to Los Angeles. His pop art works at once remind us of nostalgic places, times and people. They are a testament to the artist's own personal journey. His perfectly balanced constructions feature bright colored iconic personalities with logos and feature clever typography that is at once, humorous and artfully socially conscious.
The show opens Saturday, Dec. 13th at 6PM and regular gallery hours are Wed-Saturday 12:30-6PM (with appointments available Sunday - Tuesday - Call or text 909.788.0176 for schedule.

Artist Statement:
I have been an artist in one form or another for almost 30 years. I grew up in a blue-collar hard-working family and going to art galleries or museums was not something I was exposed to. My only exposure to art was the graffiti on walls and train cars. So, my work is inspired by graffiti and pop culture. Street art is the art of the people. I like to think I paint murals you can take home and hang on your walls.
