Collection: 'PARDES" By Gagik "Gago" Vardanyan

"PARDES : An Uncommon Retrospective, the paintings of Gagik  “Gago” Vardanyan  is showing at The LMF Gallery + Darkroom in Sierra Madre, CA.

Gagik Vardanyan – GaGo was born in Yerevan, Armenia in 1960. He graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in 1985. In 1999 Gagik moved to Buenos, Argentina, where he embraced Latin American culture and art, and his art was touched by the energy and the beauty of Buenos Aires. In 2018 – GaGo established residence in California. Inspired by nature, and the cultural diversity,  GaGo created and continues to create some large series of modern abstract paintings such as “Motion”, “Impressions of California”, and “Urban Flower”.

GaGo is not unusual in having many artists inside him; he is unusual in letting so many of them out, and regarding them all as equally authentic".

“While some of Gago's paintings are whimsical constructions offering quiet narratives they are also a bon vivant Middle finger to an unseen oppressor. Using flat oil pigment on canvas the immediacy of the shapes is sharp,, resulting in an uncommon illustrative style. The other work in this show is no less striking.Gago's various sized flower quasi-pointillist abstractions exude deep joy and reflect his fascination with flowers and the natural world he saw upon his arrival to California from Buenos Aires.
